Woodford Manor Newsletter – Summer 2026
The latest Woodford Manor newsletter is here, and it is one worth reading. The Summer edition of The Woodford Wrap covers three months of celebration, creativity, and connection at our aged care home in Woodford, Queensland.
Christmas set the tone for the whole season. The home was decorated, the Woodford Singers performed carols, and residents celebrated with family at a Three Communities Christmas party that featured a door decorating competition, Santa photos, and Christmas Eve bingo with live music. Our long-standing charity group - which has been with us for ten years and contributed thousands of dollars to the home - held its final fundraiser, with their parting gift being six electric massage and heating chairs now installed in the theatre.
Australia Day brought lamingtons and a very competitive dunny toss, alongside the launch of our new monthly "Travel the World Through Food" initiative - where residents choose a destination and the kitchen brings it to life at morning tea. Resident Kevin chose Paris first, and croissants duly appeared.
Valentine's Day was stretched into a full week, with Deal or No Deal, bingo, a morning tea full of lucky door prizes, and an Elvis serenade to close out the festivities. Chinese New Year brought vibrant dancers to the home, and the Memory Support Unit enjoyed a private high tea with live music and café-style coffees.
New Activities, New Rhythms
The Lifestyle team introduced several new activities this summer, including Who Wants to Be a Millionaire and a monthly buffet breakfast held on the last Friday of every fifth week in the menu cycle. Both have already become firm favourites. The kitchen team, meanwhile, completed the Maggie Beer Foundation Trainer Mentor Program - a year-long commitment to culinary excellence that now has its certificate proudly displayed outside the kitchen.
Community Stories
This edition also introduces resident Janette, who spent more than twenty years running the Green Room at the Woodford Folk Festival, and team member Krizha, a lifestyle assistant who arrived from the Philippines and has quickly become a beloved part of the team. The Quality Corner covers influenza vaccinations and the PainChek pain assessment system used across the home.
