May 2026: celebrations, good food, and community pride at Woodford Manor Aged Care

May 2026 was a month of milestones, creativity, great food, and wonderful community spirit at Woodford Manor Aged Care, and we loved every moment of it.

The undisputed highlight of the month was celebrating the extraordinary Ruth on her 103rd birthday. Ruth walks every day, attends all the activities, and brings a warmth and energy to our community that is simply unmatched. Happy birthday, Ruth, from management, staff, and every single one of your fellow residents.

Mother’s Day was a celebration to remember. Our residents were treated to a glamorous photoshoot, and the wait for the finished photos was absolutely worth it. The images were presented to residents and their families to great delight. We also held a beautiful high tea in our memory support community, where Ann won the lucky door prize and Chevy the dog made a very welcome appearance once the morning tea was finished. The sunflowers that adorned the day were lovingly handmade by our wonderful Iris, who is 87 years young. A heartfelt thank you to the Redcliffe Sewing Group for delivering the flowers, Traditional Funerals for donating our four lucky door prizes, and Selina Pharmacy for supplying the makeup. Your generosity made the day extra special.

Our State vs State competition was a spirited affair, with New South Wales just pipping Queensland 34 points to 33. Thank you to Jaime from catering for the brilliant football-themed cake, and to Kerrie and Crystal for their outstanding efforts on the BBQ.

Our beautiful ladies also made it into the pages of The Sentinel this month, and we could not be prouder. Thank you to the paper for the lovely coverage.

A local tradie named Paul stopped by with his 1966 Ford Mustang, which was an absolute treat. The car sparked wonderful conversations and brought out some treasured memories, particularly among the men who gathered around it.

We headed out on a bus trip to Glasshouse Plantation Cafe, taking in beautiful views and equally beautiful food. The Woodford Singers filled a Saturday morning with music and joy, and our kitchen team once again delivered a standout buffet breakfast that had everyone talking. Air fryer pizzas also made an appearance this month, and they were every bit as popular as you would expect.

May at Woodford Manor Aged Care had everything. We are so grateful for this community.
