April at Woodford Manor: A Month of Reflection, Joy and Connection
April has been a month full of laughter, creativity, remembrance and community spirit here at Woodford Manor.
Easter celebrations were in full swing, thanks to a delightful visit from the Ole Lollie Shop, giving residents the chance to pick out sweet gifts for their loved ones – and enjoy a few treats themselves. Adding a little extra joy, a curious little bunny made a surprise appearance from behind the curtain, much to everyone's delight.
In the lead-up to Easter, we were also visited by the Easter Bunny, who brought smiles and chocolate to the Manor. A heartfelt thank you goes to Heartfelt Funerals Deception Bay for their generous donation of a basket filled with Easter eggs. Their thoughtfulness helped make the day even more special, and we send warm wishes to all families for a joyful and safe Easter.
April also gave us an opportunity to reflect on history with a special event marking the anniversary of the Titanic’s sinking. Residents gathered to watch the Titanic film and enjoy a beautifully prepared high tea, with the kitchen team serving a selection of cakes for morning tea and recreating an original Titanic lunch menu. A chilling iceberg display offered a glimpse into the -2 degree waters of the North Atlantic, and a piece of coal from the ship, shared by one of our staff members, made for a fascinating exhibit. Congratulations to Jeannette, who won the lucky door prize – a sparkling diamond dot Titanic, kindly donated by fellow resident Betty.
Anzac Day was solemnly acknowledged with great respect and reflection, as we paid tribute to those who served. Lest we forget.
We also welcomed our little friends from Oak Tree Academy for their regular fortnightly visit. The children brought colour and creativity into the Manor, crafting cheerful flower plates for Mother’s Day. The room was alive with glue, glitter, and giggles – and it all ended on a high note with the ever-popular chicken dance.
From meaningful moments of remembrance to joyful intergenerational visits and festive celebrations, April has been a month to remember at Woodford Manor.
