Celebrating Community Moments at Woodford Manor: September Highlights

Celebrate the vibrant September community events at Woodford Manor Aged Care, from spring gardens and painting days to Father’s Day fun and anniversary milestones.

September was filled with warmth, laughter and connection at Woodford Manor Aged Care, as our residents enjoyed a variety of September community events that brought everyone together in celebration.

We welcomed the first day of spring with blooming gardens, thanks to the tireless efforts of Russell Muir, a valued volunteer who prepares soil and potting mix every weekend. Residents now gather fresh flowers daily to decorate their dining spaces—a true testament to community spirit.

Father’s Day was marked with a barbecue and a lively visit to the barrier reef. Sam, Ian and Leo took home awards for fishing, lucky prizes and scratch-its, while others enjoyed cool drinks and shared laughter by the pool.

We also farewelled our beloved Mary, who retired after 11 years of dedicated service. Residents and staff honoured her with heartfelt songs, games, and, of course, another delicious cake from our kitchen team.

There was plenty of joy during our bus trip to the Maleny coffee shop, where beautiful views delighted all. On R U OK Day, we took a moment to remind one another that it’s okay not to be okay—small questions can make a big difference.

Love was in the air with two beautiful milestones—Rodney and Kathy’s 60th wedding anniversary and Ian and Dot’s 70th anniversary—both celebrated joyfully with family, friends, food and heartfelt tributes in the café.

A spirited football competition saw Betty crowned highest scorer, while Loy received the wooden spoon—setting the stage for a finals series! Adventure continued with a dramatic pirate day, where residents braved the "high seas", walked the plank, and enjoyed themed cupcakes and decorations. Special thanks to Kay for crafting the lucky door prize turtle.

Residents also explored their artistic side during painting day, guided by John, whose passion for art sparked the beginning of a new fortnightly group. Finally, our first-ever fluorescent disco bowling event lit up the lanes (and a few outfits!).

We are so proud of the vibrant and engaging atmosphere these September community events have created. Here’s to more shared moments ahead.
